March 12, 2026
March is the middle of busy season for many of our tax, accounting, and audit team members at SEK. When there’s so much to do before a hard deadline, it can be a challenge to find time to take a step back and take care of yourself.
We recently took the opportunity to ask the firm to share their best self-care tips, because each department experiences different busy seasons. Here’s how our team beats the stress when the pressure is on!

Take one evening a week off at 5:00. Put the computer away and focus on your significant other or family. No distractions. Turn your phone off or put it in another room. Do a favorite activity. Most importantly, don't think about work.

Sleep, sleep, and more sleep...I can't stress it enough that you have to maintain a good night’s rest, so that means going to bed at a reasonable time, 10 pm at the latest. Wind down an hour before and get up ON time. 7 hours minimum per night.

I know most people save takeout for the weekend, but there’s something about not cooking dinner on a Monday that feels like the best way to start the week. Highly recommend trying it!

Additional tips from the team
- I don’t feel guilty about ordering dinner out. I recognize that it’s just a thing during these few months.
- Take small breaks during the workday, and/or eat your lunch without working. These breaks will help productivity!
- Find time to spend with your spouse
We hope you enjoyed hearing from our team and that you find inspiration for whenever your busy season hits!
